The hyoid bone is located on the anterior of the neck. It is the only bone that does not articulate, or connect, with any other bone.

This is the hyoid bone.  I have nothing else to say except that it does not articulate or connect to any other bone.  I think that this picture kinda sums it up.  Students usually remark that this bone is shaped like you would expect the lower jaw to look.  It even has little teeth on it.
