Simple Columnar Epithelium Slide 029-1 small intestine

High-magnification light micrograph depicting simple columnar epithelium. Epithelial cells are cuboidal to columnar with basally located, ovoid nuclei. The lumen is outlined by the apical borders of the cells. Infiltration by lymphocytes and other immune cells is visible in adjacent connective tissue (lamina propria). Hematoxylin and eosin stain with pink cytoplasm and purple nuclei.

Microscopic view of simple columnar epithelium from the small intestine. The tall, column-shaped cells are arranged in a single layer, tightly packed together and lining a lumen. Each cell has a dark stained nucleus, located near the base. Connective tissue and lymphocytes are present adjacent to the epithelial layer, indicating an inflammatory response. Image is stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), resulting in a predominantly pink and purple colour scheme.
