Fibularis longus Origin

Specifically, it arises from the head and upper two-thirds of the lateral shaft of the fibula. The fibula is located on the lateral side of the lower leg, running parallel to the larger tibia bone..

Fibularis longus Insertion

The fibularis longus muscle inserts into the first metatarsal bone and the medial cuneiform bone in the foot. It forms a long tendon. The tendon courses down the lateral side of the lower leg. It then curves beneath the foot to reach its insertion points. The tendon of the fibularis longus passes behind the lateral malleolus. The lateral malleolus is the bony prominence on the outer aspect of the ankle. The tendon then continues along the sole of the foot.v
