Rectus femoris Origin

The anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS), which is a bony projection at the front of the hip bone (ilium).

The acetabulum, which is the cup-like socket in the hip bone where the femur (thigh bone) inserts.

Rectus femoris Insertion

The rectus femoris inserts via the quadriceps tendon into the patella (kneecap). From the patella, the quadriceps tendon continues as the patellar ligament. It attaches to the tibial tuberosity on the anterior surface of the tibia (shinbone).
