Serratus anterior Origin

The serratus anterior muscle originates from the lateral surfaces of the upper eight or nine ribs. The muscle fibers start from the first rib to the ninth or tenth rib. They span from the anterior to the posterior side of these ribs.

Serratus anterior Insertion

The muscle inserts onto the anterior surface of the scapula. The serratus anterior attaches to the medial border of the scapula. It extends from the superior angle to the inferior angle.
