A microscopic image shows an eosinophil surrounded by numerous red blood cells. The eosinophil has a multi-lobed, somewhat grainy nucleus stained a deep purple color. Scattered around the eosinophil are smaller, pink-colored red blood cells. The background is a pale white/light pink, typical in blood smear slides.
