| When I first heard “L5 nerve root compression,” I figured one nerve was getting squished, and that was the whole story. Nope. Not even close. Turns out, L5 doesn’t just march straight down to one muscle and call it a day. My L5 zip code covers the outer shin and the top of the foot — and sure enough, that’s exactly where my skin felt like it was wrapped in cotton wool. Numb, tingly, wrong.
